A fine 12" terrestrial globe by Rand McNally circa 1891

An early Rand McNally globe, 12" in diameter, with twelve gores, the meridian with indicator marks.  The globe stands  22" high in its original stand, the horizon printed with calendar, degrees, and signs of the zodiac, the base of turned wood and metal supports.  Cartouche reads, "Rand McNally & Co., new twelve inch terrestrial globe."  Analemma is the Rand McNally oval style.  Russia shows St. Petersburg; North and South Dakota divided; Oklahoma has Indian Territory; the Austro Hungarian Monarchy is present; and the top of Greenland is not yet defined.  Finish is complete with some surface soiling.  A rare and handsome old globe in a fine stand with good finish overall.
